From the Inca capital of the Inca to the Cultural highlands of
Lake Titicaca. Experience the fabled Inca Trail where our staff manages the gear so you can
enjoy the archaeologicaly scenic trek to Machu Picchu. Then on to the highest navigatable lake in
the world of Lake Titicaca and a homestay on the Island of Amantani.
From the incredible Inca Trail to the highlands of Lake Titicaca this trip
combines the best of archaeology and the culture of Peru.
Day 1 - arrive Lima
Depart from your home city arrive into Lima where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for your overnight.
Day 2 - Lima - Cuzco - Cuzco City & Archaeological tour of Sacsayhauman
Our staff will transfer you to the airport for your short flight to Cuzco where you will be met
and escorted to your hotel. Relax the remainder of the morning with a cup of the local tea to
help acclimate to the 11,400 ft. altitude of Cuzco. In the afternoon our guide will meet you at
your hotel and take you to the historical and archaeological sites inside the City of Cuzco and
to the most important archaeological ruins of Kenko, Tambo Machay, Pucapucara and Sacsayhauman.
Return to your hotel in the early evening. (BB)
Day 3 - Cuzco - Pisac Market - Ollantaytambo
Our staff will meet and transfer you in the morning ( 8:45 -9:00 a.m.) into the Sacred Valley of
the Inca. This fertile region includes many Inca terraces and farm land. Travel to the town of
Pisac and the Ancient Pisac Market for the annual show where many of the local Indians sell and
barter their hand made textiles, fresh fruits, and vegetables. After an hour or so of mingling
with the locals, you will proceed to eat lunch at a local hacienda restaurant in the Sacred Valley.
Afterwards, continue to Ollantaytambo which is the oldest continuously habituated town of the
Inca that contains several important Inca structures. At the top of the sixteen massive terraces
are the ever impressive ruins of Ollantaytambo Fortress. This is where the Inca fought some of
their fiercest and strongest battles. It is unknown how the huge precisely carved stones were
transported down one mountain range to the Ollantaytambo location, or how they were fitted
perfectly to support a strategic fortress that has bared the test of time. Also found here are
“silos” or grain mills that are directly adjacent to the fortress that could have maintained
thousands of pounds of grain for the Inca and its people. Some of the grain was most likely
produced in the surrounding agricultural terracing by the variety of crops that were grown.
Afterwards, remain in the Sacred Valley. (3:45 p.m) Overnight at the Hotel. (BB/L)
Day 4 - Ollantaytambo - Inca Trail (PRIVATE)
You will be met at your hotel in Cuzco and transfer by bus to the town of Chilca and the starting
point of your trek. All the camping gear is carried by our staff giving you the time to enjoy the
beautiful scenic views of the Andean mountains. After a short hike you will be registered into the
National Park at Llactapata. You will then continue your hike along the Cusichaca river and on into
the Amazon basin of your first camp site near Huayllabamba. (B/L/D)
Day 5 - Inca Trail
The preparation for the day will begin after breakfast for the most difficult and steepest part of
your trek. Today you will climb through part of the mountain forest and then up to the point of
Llullupampa. After your climb to the Warmihuanunca Pass (13,490 ft.) You will get your first
glimpse of the snow-capped Vilcabamba range. After a brief time to absorb the incredible
surroundings you will descend into the orchid zone where a waterfall can viewed nearby.
The second night of camp will be set near the Inca outpost of Pacasmayo, where the ruins can be
Day 6 - Inca Trail
The day starts by climbing to the 13,000 ft pass and the ruins of Runcuracay. As you descend into
the rainforest you will notice a change in the vegetation. The hike then leads into the ruins of
Sayajmarca and into an Inca tunnel opening at the ruins of Phuyupatamarca, where your camp will be set.
Here you will have time to explore the area and prepare for the final day of your hike. (B/L/D)
Day 7 - Inca Trail - Machu Picchu
The final day of your journey takes you on a rapid decent through the cloud forest and to the
ruins of Winay Wayna. As your anticipation of reaching the celestial site grows greater and greater
with every step, your tired body is rejuvenated knowing that only a few more steps and turns on
the Inca highway will etch a significant memorable day in our life. The trail continues onward
leading you to Inti Punku,"The Gate of The Sun." Here you will get your first magnificent view of
the forgotten city of Machu Picchu. You will have time to admire the incredible view before making
decent into the huge coliseum like stadium of the Inca. Here our staff will explain the history
and the myths of this archaeological site. Afterwards, you will be transferred by bus to the base of Machu Picchu and
the town of Aguas Calientes for the remainder of the day on your own. Ovenight at the hotel. (B)

Day 8 - Free day - Machu Picchu - Cuzco Note: 2nd day re-entry into Machu Picchu not incl.
Today you will have the full day on your own. You may choose to re-enter Machu Picchu or take the day relaxing.
In the afternoon you will depart from Aguas Calientes by Visadome train with many memories
that pictures will never tell. After your return to Cuzco you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 9 - Cuzco - Puno
Morning our staff will transfer you for your departure via a First Class tour bus for the scenic
ride to Puno.(8 hours). On the way you will travel through the Andean mountains passing and making
short visits to the archaeological sites of Pikillaqta, Andahuaylillas, Raqchi & La Raya while on
the way to Puno. On your arrival to Puno and the highest navigable lake in the world of Lake Titicaca,
you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Remainder of the evening on your own.(BB)
Day 10 - Puno - Uros - Amantani ( homestay )
Early morning departure to Lake Titicaca where you will go by boat to the floating Uros Islands.
Here time will be allowed for mingling, shopping or even to barter for a large selection of local
hand made items with the descendants of Uros Indians. After a short time here you will proceed
again by boat to the Island of Amantani where many archaeological sites will be visited with your
guide. There are several temples and a Royal throne "Inkatiana" carved of stone on the shore of
the lake. You as well will visit the impressive points of either Pacha Tata or Pacha Mama for a
magnificent view of Lake Titicaca from the highest point of the island. Later a cultural excursion
to visit up to six different villages that exist on the largest island. Here these humble and
simple Amara Indians descendants have lived on this some what secluded island from the mainland
unchanged in their traditions for hundreds of years. Afterwards you will proceed to a local family
home that is your accommodations for the night. Overnight at a local Indian family home. (CB/D)
Day 11 - Amantani - Taquile - Puno
Morning after breakfast and a last visit in the area proceed to the Island of Taquile where you
can view pre Inca & Inca archaeological ruins & terracing. Mid day depart by boat from Taquille
with a late afternoon arrival into Puno. Here you will be met and transferred to the Hotel.

Day 12 - Puno - Juliaca - Lima
Transfer to the Julicaca airport for your return flight to Lima. Our staff will meet and transfer
you to your hotel in Miraflores, remainder of the day on your own.( BB )
Day 13 - depart Lima
Today you will bid a farewell to the Incredible country of Peru. Our staff will transfer you to the Lima airport for your flight out.
